Three days of 90 degree heat and humidity, that’s PERFECT.

LIC Community Boathouse welcomes the early arrival of summer this Saturday, June 1st with three opportunities to paddle.

1) Our first free kayaking and canoeing event at Hallets Cove. Come to Vernon Blvd and 31st Avenue (just north of Socrates Sculpture Park). No reservation, no experience needed. All ages are welcome, but minors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants must be able to swim. Wear clothing and footwear that can get wet. Just show up ready to paddle and sign up between 1PM and 4PM.

2) Paddle one of our boats (one way trip) up the East River from our Anable Basin Boathouse to Hallets Cove before the afternoon program begins. Visit LICboathouse.org, read the trip description on the Calendar page, then click on the Request a Trip tab to fill out the form before midnight on Friday. In case the trip does not fill up, unfilled spots may be offered on site on a first come basis. (10:30AM to 1:00PM)

3) Paddle a boat back (one way trip) from Hallets Cove to Anable Basin when the afternoon program ends. This time, the tides will allow for a short detour to the north before ebb current begins and helps us get back to the boathouse. Visit LICboathouse.org, read the trip description on the Calendar page, then click on the Request a Trip tab to fill out the form before midnight on Friday. In case the trip does not fill up, unfilled spots may be offered on site on a first come basis. (4:00PM to 6:30PM)

Experienced volunteers, please join us for the whole day or any part of it and help kick off our best season ever.
New volunteers are always invited and welcome to help out with check in, life jackets, loading, launching and landings or on water.
Volunteers have priority for all our trips and get invited to exciting Volunteers Only paddles!

If June 1st does not work for you, check our calendar page often for trips and events that will be added weekly as the summer season revs up.
