liccb-upcoming-event-public-7-30-17

Come to Anable Basin for free kayaking or canoeing. (located at the end the sidewalk along LIC Flea) No reservation, no experience needed. All ages are welcome, but minors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants must be able to swim. Wear clothing and footwear that can get wet. Dogs are welcome at this event!

Here’s how it works:
Sign a waiver (minors’ waivers must be signed by a parent or guardian). Receive a hand stamp, wait to be called to the dock. One of our volunteers will assist you in choosing a Personal Flotation Device and a paddle and will assign you a boat. Stay within the boundaries established by our buoys and patrol boats. Return to the dock after 20 minutes, return paddles and PFD’s, and leave the dock area promptly so we can accommodate the next paddlers. The last boat is loaded at 3:30PM. Have fun!

Please note:
Singles may be paired with another paddler, or (on request) with one of our experienced volunteers. Children under 16 must be paired with an adult.

Monetary contributions enable LICCB to continue to offer public paddling programs and are gratefully accepted.

Volunteering with LIC Community Boathouse is fun, easy and rewarding for newcomers and seasoned veterans. If you’ve never done it before, walkups are a great introduction.

If you want and expect to volunteer at this event, please register yourself. If you’re not sure, you can just show up and let one of us know that you’d like to help!
